For guests who wish to learn about the cultural aspects of Ghana, we have a variety of activities
on offer including African Drumming, & African Dancing. 
These activities are available to our guests for a small fee, by booking in advance.

African Drumming and Dancing lessons 


The Almond Tree Guest House is located 2 km from the town of ELMINA which can be 
reached by a 15 minute stroll or a 3 minute taxi ride.

Elmina Fishing Harbor & Fish Market


In Elmina there are various places of interest to visit such as the infamous Elmina Castle 
Dungeons, Fort St Jago, the 19th Century Dutch Cemetery, the Posuban Shrine and the 
Fisherman’s Market.  Alternatively, you can go to the vibrant harbor to watch the fishing 
boats leaving or arriving and experience the hustle and bustle of the fishermen unloading 
the day’s bountiful catch.  This is the place where our cook buys the catch of the day from 
the large variety of fresh fish.


There are local beaches at Iture and Elmina
both a short distance away, as well as at
Ampenyi and Brenu - Akyinim which can be
reached by a 15 minute car ride.

On offer are a variety  of activities for guests who wish to learn about Ghana’s history and culture,
including visits to places of interest such as:

Elmina Castle

Cape Coast Castle Dungeons and  Elmina Castle Dungeons where African enslaved people were kept before 
being transported to the Americas and the Caribbean .  

Kakum National Park offers a treetop
canopy walkway above the undisturbed
virgin rainforest, home to many of Ghana‘s
indigenous plant life.

Assin Manso reverential garden, located at the 
river where the enslaved people were given their last bath 
before being taken to Cape Coast and Elmina 
dungeons.  The mortal remains of a
Jamaican, Crystal, who dedicated her life to 
fighting racism and Samuel Carson, an African 
American naval officer from the U.S.A. were both 
buried at Assin Manso in August 1998 as a prelude 
to Emancipation Day.

Wassa Domama Rock Shrine, a natural 
wonder, is an awe inspiring rock monolith
that reaches three stories high.  The rock 
was once used as a shrine for religious 
practices but currently no such activities take
place there

For the sports enthusiast there is a  tennis and a squash court at a nearby hotel, as well 
as a gym and a swimming pool- all available to our guests for a fee. Golf and Horse Riding
are also available locally. 



The Almond Tree Guest House has its own 
treatment room for those guests who would 
like to relax and pamper themselves during 
their stay.  All Treatments are conducted in 
a tranquil and private environment overlooking 
the ocean, with the fragrant smell of essential 
oils and the serene sound of healing music to 
relax and soothe the senses.  Therapies on
